"The Shuri-te" Seminar

14/11/2016 17:58

On Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, the seminar "Lo Shuri-te" with Maeshiro Morinobu sensei took place. 33 participants from 7 Italian regions were able to train in Shorin-ryu 小林 流 with one of the world's top exponents of this school. Most of them were fortunate enough to be able to train both days, learning as much as possible. They have been two intense days, with a total of 13-14 hours of pure Shorin-ryu training. As always Maeshiro Sensei did not spare himself, checking out all Karateka couples who were training, giving advice, clarifications and corrections. All with the kindness and humility that distinguish him.

After the Jubi Undo, practitioners did the couple's exercises for martial use of the body, including various types of Kakie, then kata and their bunkai. The Tuidi, the Tegumi style throwings, and the use of the small Tai Sabaki typical of Shorin-ryu were not missed. On Saturday, Maeshiro sensei analyzed the three Naihanchi, while Sunday worked again on Naihanchi Shodan, and then on the five Pinan. Both days, between one kata and another, it took time for the participants' questions, because Karate is not just doing, but also SPEAKING, QUESTIONING, and EXPLAIN.

All participants, young or mature, were excited about the seminar, regardless of whether they were practitioners / masters of Shotokan, Shito-ryu or Shorin-ryu. Despite bruising and tiredness, the enthusiasm was the best! Okinawa Karate Kenkyukai's mission could not begin better! Unfortunately, both Santiago Sacaba sensei, and Eduardo De Angelis sensei, members of Okinawa Karate Kenkyukai, were absent due to overseas commitments (OKK members are not only active in Italy but also deal with Okinawa and others Groups in the world).

Thanks to all the participants!
